JULY 9-11, 2021 The Buckeye Showdown RecruitFest is the largest recruiting tournament in the Midwest with over 200 teams and over 100 college coaches in attendance. Berliner Park in Columbus OH now has 31 turf fields, making it the biggest turf complex in the country. In order to maintain the highest quality of turf fields, metal cleats are prohibited at Berliner Park. Please note that the tournament is for 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U only. Player Development and Recruiting Clinic instructed by over 40 college coaches takes place Thursday July 8. The 14U, 16U, and 18U teams will play 3 pool play games on Friday and Saturday with bracket play starting Saturday afternoon. At the completion of pool play all 14U, 16U and 18U teams will be seeded and placed into brackets. For each age group there will be 4 divisions - Gold (1st Place in Bracket), Silver (2nd Place in Bracket), Bronze (3rd Place in Bracket), and Copper (4th Place in Bracket). If you win your first bracket game, you play until you lose. If you lose your first bracket game, you will play one consolation game and be done, win or lose. 12U teams will play Saturday and Sunday only in a round-robin format. No bracket play at 12U. For more information, please go to the Buckeye Showdown RecruitFest page at www.fastpitchshowdowns.com. USA Softball sanctioning available at check-in. Any team sanctioned with Softball Canada can use that sanctioning since the national softball governing bodies offer reciprocity of sanctioning for international play. Also, we offer a discount on registration fees to Canadian teams for all of our tournaments in a small attempt to offset the increased cost of playing in the states due to the exchange rate. See you in Columbus!

Been in the past....not a big fan of Berliner....but now that the diamonds are all turfed that is a big plus. It certainly is the best sort of park for a big tourney no question. But for recruiting, you can get very lost in the shuffle unless you are on the prime central diamonds. Having the pull with the organizer to get placed there is key.

Can only hope that Ontario teams will be able to play in the states next year. With the rise in cases over there hitting all time highs, and no real plan in place, it could be sometime until the border opens up and teams are permitted to travel.
We're planning on attending a few tournaments there but in reality we know that it's a longshot at best, the way things are going.

I really don't think there will be any college ball this spring but I could be wrong. At least the year won't go against eligibility.
