It's true. See the National Pro Fastpitch website (above). On the home page the article is titled "NPF cancels 2020 season due to Covid 19". Article is dated May 15 2020

They should save another announcement and cancel 2021 as well.

I will put you down as undecided as to whether women should have less opportunities to play. A friend who plays in the NPF texted me devastated that she wouldn't get to play this summer and then I read comments like this. Shakes head. Pro softball needs a league however that league is not the NPF.
That latest iteration of Pro Softball comes from Athletes Unlimited and will (COVID virus permitting) launch in late summer. www.espn.com/espn/story/_/id/28829140/new-professional-softball-league-launch-august auprosports.com/
They will play all games out of the Park at Rosemont. This may seem unorthodox but it is proven successful on the baseball side. The United Shore Baseball league operates out of Jimmy John Field in Utica Michigan and is the closest example to us in Southern Ontario. uspbl.com/jimmy-johns-field/
Further, the summer tour by the USSSA Pride and Scrap Yard Dawgs is still on and may well be joined by the Bandits.
Finally, both the Pride and Dawgs have been said to be working to establish a Pro League and as their non-compete clauses with the NPF have expired they are free to do so and most certainly have the capital necessary to be successful.
So in answer to your question as to Pro Softball opportunities I am very much in favour of anything that makes sense.....unfortunately the NPF doesn't at this time and others that are up and coming do.

The intent of AU was that both leagues do co-exist, hence the timing of the season. It's obvious that scrapyard and pride think they can do it better on their own, (which selfishly sucks for me because the pride coach is a good friend and I always enjoy spending a weekend with him in rosemont) but if they can make it work in rosemont and travel to other venues for showcase tourneys and still draw pretty well, I just dont see the problem.

AU is off on the wrong foot to begin with by bringing Kempf in as an "advisor". That is the kiss of death. The head of a league that has failed miserably to capitalize on the exponential growth in popularity of NCAA softball and failed to capitalize on the softball in Olympics...among a dozen more missteps is NOT who I would want to have associated with my league.

Might be the time to bury the hatchet on all your various grievances and move on with your life ITS. Realize that things didn't work out for you with NPF and you have some past beefs with the powers that be in the softball world here but the constant sniping isn't a good look. Find something that makes you smile and move on.
