Please see the following update from the PWSA leaders:
PWSA Affiliation Update
We know that this has been a trying time for all as we navigate the fight of our lives. We continue to update and evaluate through daily conferences with Health Officials, government, Softball Ontario, Softball Canada and our Provincial counterparts.
We also continue to navigate to the facts in some of the media reports, example the recent announcement that Quebec was cancelled for sports events through the end of August, assumption then became the U19 Nationals were cancelled. We spoke to Quebec and the announcement does not apply to the minor sports groups and so they are still hopeful like all of us to have a season in 2020.
We still have hope that come July, we will be able to have our Qualifiers and Provincials. At this time, what those events will look like is still unknown and will depend on the government of Ontario’s COVID-19 recommendations and guidelines.
We encourage all teams and associations to continue to send their required paperwork and fees, assuming that there will be a season.
We do have a couple of announcements on Team Certificates and Coaches Certifications that should help allow us to hit the ground running when we re-open.
Teams that are not currently fully affiliated, must continue to work with the Association Registrar. At a minimum all team and association forms must be submitted by May 8, 2020 for all U10 – U19 Divisions and May 29, 2020 for all Intermediate II, Open, Masters Divisions to the Registrar. Failure to do so will result in teams not being able to compete in 2020.
All U10 – U19 teams must have all their fees and forms submitted to their Divisional Coordinator and Association Registrar by May 31, 2020. For all Intermediate II, Open, Masters Division teams the deadline is June 10, 2020. To see if your team is fully affiliated check our Affiliated Teams page www.pwsaontario.com/competitions/affiliated-teams/ . Any questions can be forwarded to the Registrar at affiliations@pwsaontario.com
Coaching Certification
Due to the all 2020 in person coaching clinics being cancelled, PWSA will be granting coaches exemptions for the 2020 season within its authority (Provincials only).
For teams going to the Canadian Championships, Softball Canada will consider exemptions on a case by case basis in consultation with the Province.
Team Certificates
For the 2020 season only we will not be requiring signatures on Team Certificates for the signing deadline. All unsigned team certificates, completed in full, must be emailed to your Divisional Coordinator. In addition, $2 registration, extra coaches’ fees, commitment fees and forms must be mailed to your Coordinator. We will not be depositing any fees until we know that there will be a season.
