Good afternoon everyone.
Earlier this afternoon, we communicated via Event Connect that we have cancelled our Early Bird Tournament for 2020. The Provincial Government has extended the Emergency Measures Order which limits gatherings now until the middle of May. With that announcement, we have no choice but to cancel the tournament. Messages re: refund processing were communicated to coaches/managers today on Event Connect.
On behalf of everyone at UTM, we would like to thank the 30 teams that registered for this event. We thank you for choosing our event, and we greatly appreciate so many of you that continue to show your support for tournaments, play-days, etc that we organize. We would also like to wish everyone continued safety and care during these tough times.
Regards,
Chris Meyer UTM Fastpitch

Chris, Curious where you saw this new post? I'm not doubting you, I've only been able to see that the Emergency Measure Order was updated a couple days ago when it was extended until April 23rd.
Some other May tournaments will be facing the same, having to cancel or reschedule if it is indeed extended until mid May.
UPDATE: Just saw a post on the Canadian Press. The government will meet tomorrow (Tues.) to discuss extending state of emergency another 28 days.

Hello ballfan Looks like the article referenced in the tweet I saw does say the government will meet tomorrow. At the office here today we had a meeting, and this was a foregone conclusion. I must have tuned out at some point in the meeting, as I left the call went back to my desk here at home and wrote the above post Everything runs together these days it seems, sigh

I was watching the press conference today and heard the May 12th date and relayed that to Chris. If this turns out to be inaccurate it is on me as I expect Chris understood it to be accurate.

No problem.
I read the prior announcement over the weekend (for April 23rd)so when I saw it was going to be extended I was more curious as to what the new date was, since we (like I'm sure other teams) have a tournament scheduled in May that we're hoping will go off, if we can get out of this safely in the few weeks.
