Nashville, TN. (March 16, 2020) National Pro Fastpitch has announced the following scheduling adjustments related to restrictions and regulations connected to the Coronavirus.
NPF Draft postponed indefinitely. The draft was originally scheduled to take place March 30 in Rosemont, IL.
Cancellation of 2020 opening day series events of Canadian Wild v Cleveland Comets and Canadian Wild v California Commotion scheduled to take place in Fresno, CA., April 10-12 and April 17-19 respectively.
Considering the diverse nature of the league, with three complete International (OLYMPIC) qualified teams participating in regular season action, league teams and officials will weigh future options based on the evolving circumstances surrounding coronavirus. The League has set the date of May 1 to announce further scheduling plans for 2020 competition.

The league is generally in disarray and has been so since 2016 and 2017.
The national teams experiment started with China in 2017 (which is no longer in the league)will end up being its undoing. With only one commercial team left in the league at this point (Chicago) there is little hope going into 2021. California Commotion can not be considered credible, with no website, no home field, no schedule. Comets, Wild and Peppers are all reliant on National team programs to survive. The Wild stated at the beginning they were in for 2 years and only to ensure a spot in the Olympics. Comets were thrown a life line when Mexico came on board, but that will also end once the Olympics are gone. The Peppers, supported by Australia, will face the same fate once the Olympics come and go.
Its sad to see as the massive popularity of NCAA Softball could easily translate to a vibrant Pro League. Missed opportunities, missed steps, poor planning seems to plague the NPF and will be its undoing.

Olympics 2021?.....doing the rounds on several US forums. The potential to cancel 2020 and move it lock, stock and barrel to 2021 is possible. It would seem more than a rumour given some of the sources quoted.
Could that save the NPF?...doubt it...more like delay the inevitable

I thought it was the European Cup that was postponed to 2021. Last I read Japan was determined to proceed No question that Japan has stated things will go ahead as planned. I would not expect anything different from them at this point.
However when looking at other multi-billion dollar operations you have to question the statement.
Formula 1 right up to the day before qualifying stated the Australian GP would go ahead and then cancelled it the day before qualifying. In the meantime they have postponed Bahrain, Vietnam, China, Dutch, Spanish and Monaco GP's. That would make the first race of the year Azerbaijan on June 7th. They have also deferred the massive technical changes scheduled for 2021 to 2022.
So given this sort of shuffling of the cards it would not be a major surprise to put Tokyo over to the summer of 2021 if things don't improve rapidly over the next month or so.
