This "news" has been out there for some time now. Basically comes down to some bureaucrats making a decision to "better" the game with complete disregard for the 2001/2002 girls that get shut out of the process.
The reality is that most of the girls who participated in the earlier selection camps and development for the Team Ontario program were not going to make the final team. That is the nature of this sort of thing, only a small percentage of the development pool was going to move on to the next level.
However the association encouraged these kids to participate, accepted their money to attend the camps then abandoned all of them when it served some "greater" purpose. Would have thought all the girls who had supported the earlier programs and were then shut out would have deserved at least a note from these decision makers explaining why it was necessary to do this to them.
