Per the PWSA pilot program, any player who played for a Team/Association outside of Milton in 2023 who intends to try out for a Milton Bats Representative team MUST obtain a signed Permission to Play form from their 2023 Team/Association and be able to provide the form to MGSI in advance of attending a tryout.
Fall and winter training will be held in the Bat Cave (Milton Sports Dome) on Sunday mornings, beginning in late October and continuing until early May, when our diamonds open for the season. The training will encompass our Rep and Select programs throughout the fall and winter. This 88,000 square foot state of the art facility allows our teams to practice all facets of the game on a weekly basis.
Our training will be led and instructed by Craig Sarson, who is the Head of Player Development for Milton Girls Softball. For those who do not know Craig we have listed some accolades below:
● Head Coach, University of Toronto Varsity Blues fastpitch team
● Professional coach
● Overseas experience as a player and coach
● Currently works with players across Canada during development clinics
● Recruits across North America for University of Toronto
● Strong relationships with multiple club teams in the United States
● Ability to place athletes on club teams in the U.S. for exposure opportunities
● Member of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA)

● Full team training in the Bat Cave on Sunday – Led by Craig and his team
● Dedicated Catcher training – Led By Craig and Taylor O’Leary
● Pitcher training – Led by Craig Sarson or Jackie Hall depending on the coach’s preference.
● Specialized training during team sessions
o Defensively – utilizing position specific instructors, group girls by position and work with girls from all age groups together (developing positional skill sets, while promoting organizational comradery and mentorship)
o Offensively – in addition to batting, focus on specific skills as well - power hitting, contact skills, slapping and short game focus, all with skill specific instructors for the athletes to benefit from.
